Compassionate writing, for Dads, too; not just Mom/Grandmom
Thanks from a grateful grandmother.

Why five stars ??But the treasure of this awesome book is in the examples and stories in the later chapters. I wish I had read this book a couple of years ago. From a number of books that I have read, it talks quite a bit about short selling and risk. In my opinion .. it is a five star book ..
Best trading book I've ever read
If you don't have a real-life mentor...Along with "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" and a couple of others, this is one of the best and most informative books I've read about the market.

A Compelling Celebration of Greatness
Exemplifies the greatness of AmericaSure, when we see the Brooklyn Bridge, we marvel at its timeless beauty. We probably don't give barbed wire a second thought, though. Those old enough to recall FDR tell of the inspiration of his Fireside Chats, and the rest of us can compare (through this work) them to the Gettysburg Address. But this work takes us so much farther. The courage of Mohawk Steel Workers walking across the sky, the Tuskeegee Airmen bringing back every bomber they escorted and the inscrutable creativity of Navajo Code Talkers are all admirably chronicled.
Everyone, from fans of the Vette to those who prefer the Smithsonian; afficionadoes of Duke Ellington vs. Sun Records (or both) will find something here to contemplate and treasure.

Outstanding BSC Handbook
Should Charge $250,000 Or More For This Book...While Robert Kaplan did write the introduction, he and Norton must be very dissappointed that they didn't write this book -- I'm certainly sorry that I didn't write it. Author Paul R. Niven provides all the tools, methodologies and steps necessary to create and execute your own balanced scorecard. He's held nothing back. It's all here. Whether you lead a local non-profit or are the CEO of a Fortune Global 500 corporation (like my clients), Niven has provided detailed step-by-step instructions for both of the key phases of the balanced scorecard project:
I. Planning Stage:
Step One: Develop objectives
Step Two: Determine appropriate organizational unit(s).
Step Three: Gain executive sponsorship.
Step Four: Build your balanced scorecard team.
Step Five: Formulate your project plan.
Step Six: Develop a communication plan.
II. Development Stage:
Step One: Gather and distribute background material.
Step Two: Develop mission, values, vision, and strategy.
Step Three: Conduct extensive interviews.
Step Four: Develop objectives and measures.
Step Five: Develop cause-and-effet linkages.
Step Six: Establish targest for your measures.
Step Seven: Develop the implementation plan.
This book is fantastic. In fact, I'm thinking about placing a bulk order for the book to give to all my clients. On second thought, why give away all the "secrets?" Seriously, this is one of the best business and management books I've read this year. Overall grade: AAA+++/Highly Recommended.

The Master's Work
fantasyYou can look to the prints for hours, using your fantasy how it was/is to be a combat pilot.
But, do not not expect it to be a book with a lot of prints.
This is just a selection of one of the most beautiful prints.
This is really a book you can look in from time to time and turn yourself into another fasinating world.
Robert Taylor Air Combat Paintings-Vol.1-4All volumes are still available through several aviation art dealers. ( NW Aviation Art/Leisure Galleries) I do not know why Amazon lists many of these as out of print. They are NOT!
The new Volume 4 is out as of Sept. 2000.
Wish Amazon stocked them all.

echoes of Scripture...Many near eastern/mediteraenean cultures exhibit shared memories of a common prehistory. From Gilgamesh in Mesopotamia to early tales of Osiris in Egypt, echoes of the Genesis and Flood stories abound. If Mr. Johnson is correct, than Greek mythology is a very twisted (possibly Satanic) retelling of the fall of Man.
As far as particulars--
I found his arguments about the true identity of the Zeus figure extremely compelling. Yet the Athena/Hera division is still a little muddled in my mind (probably more my fault than the author's).
Overall, "Athena and Eden" is a very intriguing book that deserves a lot of attention. It gets my recommendation.
Fabulous new source for reflection - Very highly recommendedJohnson asserts that scholars have previously been unsuccessful in identifying most of the figures in the east pediment because they have failed to connect Athena with Even and the story of Eden in the Book of Genesis. Through careful research, Johnson demonstrates that we do have the literature and art to serve as a source of reconstruction. Painstaking comparison demonstrates shows that the sculptures of the eastern pediment depict the Garden of Eden, the birth of Eve, the Great Flood. Furthermore, the goddess Athena, whom the Greeks worshipped as the one who brought the serpent's wisdom, is the same person the Book of Genesis calls Eve.
Johnson, a West Point graduate, author, teacher and public speaker based his research on surviving sculptures, the ancient writings of Homer, Hesiod, Pindar and others, plus myths, vase art and the work of numerous experts. His controversial approach will certainly garner attention from all who are interested in the classics, religion, art, and mythology. Indeed, Johnson's unique perspective will provoke avid discussion among academics for years to come, yet is easily approachable by any who hold an interest in our origins.
Of particular interest to students of Hellenic art
It is not so much a "survival guide" as an affirmation of how important relationships are, especially when they change during a girl's maturation. Roberts is clear about the importance of fathers in this affirmation. In a divorce situation, she astutely observes that girls often reserve their anger and confusion for their moms and hold back on their (more distant) dads. Her recommendations make good sense--talking things through, affirmation, being clear about limits, asking about the girl's feelings.
I think men will get a lot from this book, also. We know that when fathers pull back from daughters in their teen years, many girls end up hurt/confused/wounded/angry, so it is important to maintain an appropriate relationship with your daughter. Roberts is on the right track.
